Hanover - a green city with history and future

Hanover has a long and eventful history dating back to the Middle Ages. What began as a small settlement on the River Leine developed over the centuries into an important residential city and later a modern metropolis. The period when Hanover served as the capital of the Kingdom of Hanover was particularly influential, as many representative buildings and cultural institutions were created during this time.

As an international trade fair location, Hanover is known worldwide, particularly for the Hannover Messe and the IAA Commercial Vehicles exhibition. Its strong infrastructure and central location also make it an important transport hub.
